International Women’s Day 2024

#InspireInclusion

Today we celebrate Women and recognise all that has been accomplished to achieve balance.

Today’s headline for IWD2024 begins ;

“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive.”

I wonder, is this realistic?  However hard we strive for as near to ideal as possible; we can do so much better.

We must think about access to healthcare, education and safer streets and we don’t have to look too far to see that we have a long way to go.

But, today is about celebrating.

So, let us appreciate everything that has been achieved so far. Not just the names that we know and admire; Emily Pankhurst, Malala Yousafzai, Jacinda Ardern and Ruth Bader Ginsburg to name but a few.  Let us celebrate each and every one of us because we all play our part in bringing about change.

Let us continue to talk, to educate and to make this a major agenda item in the home, schools, universities and workplace.
